DENVER — The Atlanta Braves scored six runs over the final two innings to overcome an early five-run deficit and defeat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Friday. Trailing 6-2 entering the eighth, Atlanta tied the game with a four-run surge before taking the lead for good in the ninth.

Colorado established a 5-0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the second, but the offense stalled for the remainder of the night. The Rockies bullpen struggled to preserve the lead, allowing the Braves to claw back despite being outhit early in the contest.

Didier Fuentes earned the win in relief, while Juan Mejia fell to 0-3 after surrendering the late lead. Robert Suarez retired the side in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the year. Colorado’s early offensive momentum was neutralized as the Braves' pitching staff allowed zero runs over the final seven frames.

The victory improves Atlanta to 23-10, while Colorado drops to 14-19. The two teams meet again Saturday for the second game of the three-game weekend series at Coors Field.
